James Carville and Al Hunt are two old school political insiders who generally get things right. Carville has a great Louisiana vote and essentially no filter.
This episode takes a look at what happened Tuesday in Texas. It was a great day for the Democrats. The headline was that Ken Paxton defeated incumbent John Cornyn. Paxton is scandal-ridden and the far weaker of two Senate candidates. Paxton was endorsed by President Trump in what generally is considered to be a massive self-own. The midterm now pits Paxton against Democrat James Tararico.
There was a good deal of lower profile news that also was good. It’s an existential situation for the GOP: If they ever lose Texas, the road to the White House becomes extremely difficult. Wins in this year’s midterm elections, especially at the top of the ticket, would be a huge step in that direction.
